She attended West Liberty University which is a great university in the state of Virginia. Feinler was a 1954 graduate and had earned a few academic awards such as a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry and then to further her education she did graduate work at Perdue University in the subject of Biochemistry. She had a few creations such as the APRANET, Defense Data Network (DDN), and Network Information Centers (NIC). These early network systems are the original sparks that created the internet that we have today. In addition, Feinler and her group created the first email system called PCSam which collected email from server machines and downloaded it to people’s personal computer. This email system influenced today’s email communication apps. I also learned some fun facts about this famous scientist such as that she was the first person in her family to go to college and that her group created the first internet “yellow page” and “white page” servers. This group of computer scientists had created the first network server of its kind. Elizabeth Feinler is an important figure from our past and has changed our future. The internet we use every day was sparked by her.
